Finance and Administration Officer (part-time position)

This is a key strategic position with a focus on assisting with MyNT operations and reporting to the MyNT Youth Executive. 

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to positive youth development, a flexible approach, and an ability to work with a variety of young people, agencies and services.

 

POSITION OBJECTIVES

  • To support the MyNT Youth Executive in administration, daily operations, and finance of the organisation

  • To assist and work with the MyNT Youth Executive and Project Leaders in delivering MyNT’s objectives

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To assist the MyNT Executive and Project Leaders with the drafting of reports and other administrative tasks

  • Manage MyNT assets including maintaining records 

  • To maintain relationships with schools, relevant service providers and other youth organisations

  • To source and acquit funding for the organisation with the support and involvement of the Youth Executive

  • To provide regular reports to MyNT and its auspice body, the Multicultural Council of the Northern Territory (MCNT)

  • To undertake financial management and bookkeeping tasks

  • Support to Project Leaders as required

 

SALARY AND HOURS

  • 15 hours per week

  • Level 2, Paypoint 2 - Paypoint 4 of the SACS Award (award depending on qualifications)

 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

  • Hold a current or have applied for an NT Working with Children Ochre Card

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Qualifications and/or experience in the Youth or Community Services sector

  • Ability to work with young people within a community development framework

  • Understanding of responsible financial procedures, records and accounts keeping

  • Strong cross cultural and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with young people from diverse backgrounds

  • Understanding of MyNT’s values (ie cultural diversity, social justice and human rights, participation, collaboration and empowerment)

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team

  • Ability to manage time and prioritise workload

  • Proficient in verbal and written communication in a professional manner

  • Comfortable with a variety of computer applications, including the Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Ability to work flexible work hours, including some weekend and night work

 

This position has a 3-month probationary period.
